Reimagining the one room school house

Natural Rhythms

Research shows that children learn best through play. We at NFCM believe that movement, connection with nature, and connection with each other are the basis for the most ideal educational outcome.
Our program strives to create rhythms that include time for play, time to commune with nature, and time for creative expression every day.

Our curriculum focuses on 4 main learning elements:

  • Child with paint in hands

    Art

  • Nature

Reggio, Montessori, and Waldorf inspired

New Forest Collaborative Microschool is a unique educational environment that integrates the best practices from Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and Waldorf approaches. Located at Historic Ozark Farms,
daily activities are guided by natural rhythms, and include tactile academics, gardening, cooking, and caring for animals.

The school prioritizes social connections, physical and emotional safety, self-care, and body awareness. Children engage in self-directed play and discoveries, guided by directors and teaching parents. The pedagogy focuses on project-based learning, storytelling, visual representation, and documentation, fostering a co-created learning process with the children.
